1950s Seaside Shirtwaist
By Joni Lynn
For Kindred Thread Signature
The new mystery The Finders-Keepers Rule depicts our favorite Fifties girl in front of the historic Daytona Beach Bandshell in a cool aqua-and-white striped shirtwaist dress. This book cover sparked my imagination the moment I saw it and I knew I had to recreate the dress! Fortunately my intrepid business partner came to the rescue with a brand new Fifties shirtwaist pattern (note to fellow seamstresses: it sews like a dream) which I immediately stitched up in a cotton print of 1″ aqua stripes. The shirtwaist is elegant in its simplicity – stripes are carefuly matched across the bodice (darted for a better fit) and then turned vertical on the back bodice yoke for a whimsical touch. The full skirt is floaty enough to keep cool on the hottest Florida summer day! Tie back her strawberry blond locks with a matching hair ribbon and she’s ready for her next adventure.
Please note that the listing is for the Seaside Shirtwaist and Hair Ribbon only – the doll and any other accessories are not included. This dress is ready to order on an ongoing basis but may take up to two weeks to ship depending on existing inventory. Fits 18″ play dolls such as American Girl; we are not affiliated with American Girl or Mattel. Fabric and trim may vary slightly based on availability. Price includes FREE SHIPPING via first class mail to the United States and Canada. Intended for adult collectors.
